American Express and Delta Air Lines have debuted the first-ever credit card design made with 25% metal from a retired Boeing 747 aircraft. And now through Aug. 3, 2022, you can choose this exciting new option when you apply (and are approved) for a new Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card or a Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card.
These cards — along with other Amex Delta cobranded credit cards — also have increased welcome offers after meeting the minimum spend requirement.

The limited-edition design of the Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card and Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business Card is made with 25% metal from a retired Delta Boeing 747 aircraft — registration number N667US, to be exact. This airframe was a workhorse over its 27 years of service, as is clear from these incredible statistics:
- The plane had over 14,000 takeoffs and landings.
- It accumulated 116,548 hours of flight time — which means it spent more than 13 years airborne.
- It traveled roughly 67.9 million miles — which is comparable to circling the Earth over 2,700 times (or traveling to the moon and back 144 times).
- 4 million passengers flew on the plane during its time in service.
The new card design also comes with exclusive content via an augmented reality experience created especially for cardmembers, which includes the history of the Boeing 747, interviews with Delta pilots and crew members, and an up-close look at this specific airframe’s transformation from a passenger plane into the card design.
Affectionately known as the “Queen of the Skies”, the Boeing 747 revolutionized air travel when it took its first commercial flight in 1970. With an upper deck and seating capacity beyond any other plane of the jet age, the airline industry had never seen anything like it.
The 747’s unique design allowed airlines to cut costs and make flying more accessible than ever. It paved the way for future innovations, but most 747s have faded into the sunset to make way for the next generation of aircraft (including the highly anticipated Boeing 777X).
