Mark Your Calendar for Four Weeks of Familia, Food and Fun at Estancia Del Norte
Be sure to Mark Your Calendar: Familia, food and fun will be showcased throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 through October 15 at Estancia Del Norte! Where San Antonio Celebrates!
Estancia Del Norte Hotel will be collaborating with UTSA Libraries, the World Heritage Office, the Mexican Consulate and the Department of Arts and Culture, the Magik Theatre, the AM Project and the Children’s Ballet of San Antonio to showcase gastronomy, the arts and the importance of bilingual education in creative and delicious ways.
Then this month–long celebration will culminate in a family fun game night of iQue Sabor! San Antonio lotería created by culinary photographer, Tracey Maurer which will take place at Estancia del Norte’s Paseo Bar October 14th. Consul General of Mexico, Rubén Minutti–Zanatta and First Lady of San Antonio, Erika Prosper will be the honorary cantadores on lotería night in both English and Spanish. Partial proceeds from the special lotería cocktail will go to Somos Cultura y Más to support bilingual education in San Antonio.
“At Somos Cultura y Más our mission is to promote the culture, history and traditions of our community and this ancient game does exactly that. We are delighted with this partnership with Estancia Del Norte which assures us that there will be lotería and other bilingual games at the 25th annual celebration of El Día de los Niños in April 2023.”

7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15 – Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off with El Grito hosted by the Consul General‘s office at Milan Park. For more information, please visit https://consulmex.sre.gob.mx/sanantonio/.
7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., Friday, September 16 – Celebrate “diez y seis de septiembre” with Magik Theatre and the AM Project. This event features music by the AM Project plus family fun activity stations from 7:30 pm – 9:30pm. Partial proceeds of the specialty cocktail at Paseo Bar will benefit Magik Theatre and the AM Project available from 9/16 – 9/22.
6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 23 – Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through the art of dance at La Estancia! Enjoy a one–time–only special performance and dance demonstration by the award–winning Children‘s Ballet of San Antonio (CBSA). Guests are invited to bailar and learn some dance moves from the inspiring young artists of CBSA. From Ballet Folklorico to Bachata – Latin dance reveals the ancient traditions of Hispanic culture and gives us reason to celebrate. Whether you are 6 or 66, this family friendly event will have your toes tapping and your hips swaying as we enjoy the vibrant heritage of Hispanic dance. Partial proceeds of a LAZO with Don Strange specialty dessert will benefit Children‘s Ballet of San Antonio from 9/23 – 9/29.
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29 – Celebrate San Antonio‘s UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy designation by joining us for a unique food and beverage pairing that combines the flavors of San Antonio. Rooted in indigenous, Spanish, and African influences, later further influenced by German and other European traditions, San Antonio‘s cuisine is where heritage meets innovation. The San Antonio UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy program and food photographer, Tracey Maurer, have collaborated to showcase San Antonio‘s culinary and cultural heritage through a fun and interactive bilingual Lotería game, ¡Qué Sabor! San Antonio . While playing the game, you‘ll learn that San Antonio‘s gastronomy is a multi–layered confluence of cultures that is continuously evolving. As a UNESCO Creative City, San Antonio is part of a very distinct group of international cities committed to sharing best practices, developing partnerships that promote creativity, strengthening participation in cultural life, and integrating culture in urban development plans. The City of San Antonio World Heritage Office oversees the Creative City of Gastronomy designation for San Antonio. Partial proceeds of the specialty cocktail will benefit World Heritage Office from 9/30 – 10/6.
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 13 – “Sabores & Cookbooks” In support of the UTSA Libraries‘ renowned Mexican Cookbook Collection, join us for a live cocktail demonstration and tasting of unique flavors inspired by the collection. Estancia Del Norte Paseo Bar and staff will partner with UTSA Libraries‘ archivists and offer a unique experience while sharing insights from the Mexican Cookbook Collection and tasting unique cocktails. Comprised of more than 2,000 cookbooks, this collection is the largest in the country and a true San Antonio treasure. Partial proceeds of the 2 signature cocktails will benefit UTSA Libraries from 10/7 – 10/13.
6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Friday, October 14–¡Qué Sabor! San Antonio Lotería Family Game Night! This bilingual lotería game is a fun way of learning about our local flavors, cultures and traditions and contains versos or poems that were viewed as proverbs or light hearted cultural references or “clues” to the cards drawn. The frolicsome and food–centric poems pays tribute to the historic lotería versos used in the past (See game sample below).
