How to Prevent and Recover Permanently Deleted Photos
Posted by admin on
We’ve come a long way from daguerreotypes to high resolution digital photos that we take everyday from our phones or cameras. Thanks to modern technology, we can capture our memories and interesting moments within an instant.
However, with great power (of taking hi-res photos anytime anywhere) comes great responsibility (of keeping them from getting lost). It would be one of the greatest losses if you accidentally delete your photos and (if you don’t have them backed up) not able to recover them ever.
In this article, I am going to discuss the possible solutions to avoid losing your photos. On top of that, if you do somehow get your photos deleted permanently, I will show you how to get them recovered with a tool, Wondershare Recoverit.
So, let’s begin.
How to not lose photos (in the first place)
We take so many photos so often that we overlook the importance of backing them up. Here are some useful tips for storing or backing up your photos.
1. Keep a copy in your PC
If your computer has a large enough storage capacity, you can keep a copy of your important photos in it. This option does come with certain risks.
For instance, if your computer’s storage gets corrupted, the pictures you saved in it may also be lost.
2. Keep a copy in an external storage
Another option is to store your photos in an external storage device. You can opt for an HDD or SSD for storing your data. Both drives are reliable, however, the SDD has a faster read/write speed which also makes it more expensive.
3. Use a cloud storage service
Cloud storage offers you a flexible, reliable, and convenient virtual storage solution. The most popular ones are Google photos and Apple iCloud.
Google Photos allows you to store your photos in high resolution. In the free plan, you can store up to 15 GB of data. Similarly, if you are a Mac or iOS user, you can use iCloud with 5 GB of free cloud storage space.
Other cloud storage options may include Flickr, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, or Amazon Cloud. Each service has its own pros and cons, and you can read about them here.
4. Make a Time Machine backup (Mac users)
Mac users have the option to backup their data through the Time Machine app.You can back up certain external storage devices connected to your Mac or that are available on your network.
To do that connect an external storage device that has your photos with yourMac. Then go to System Preferences, click Time Machine and Select BackupDisk. Now select the name of the disk that you want to back up and click UseDisk. Time Machine will start making periodic backups automatically.
5. Create a private album on Facebook
Facebook allows you to create a private album in your account that only you can see. In case of emergency when there’s no option for storing your photos in an external hard drive or on cloud storage, you can use this option to create a backup of your photos.
I deleted my photos by mistake, now what?
All the aforementioned solutions and tips are precautionary so as to avoid your photos from getting lost permanently. However, if it is already too late for you and you lost some or all of your memorable photos that were not backed up as well, then there’s still a ray of hope that you can cling on to.
The solution here is Wondershare Recoverit – a data recovery tool that enables you to recover your photos, videos, in fact, all kinds of files that get permanently deleted.
It doesn’t matter if the photos are deleted from your computer, external hard drive, USB flash drive, SD card, action or drone camera or any other type of storage device. The tool can bring back permanently deleted photos from just about anywhere.
Moreover, Recoverit supports all file formats with a high success rate. So either your photos are lost due to accidental deletion, device corruption, virus attack, or as a result of formatting, you can easily recover them using this tool.
How to recover photos with Recoverit
After this short introduction to the Recoverit tool, I am going to show you with an example how to recover photos that you permanently deleted from your computer or any storage device.
Let’s take a look.
- Here is a folder with some photos that I tossed in the Trash and then permanently deleted it from the Trash. Please note that once a file is deleted from the Trash, it is considered as permanently deleted.
- Now launch the Recoverit app and select the location from where you deleted the files that you want to recover. In my case that is the Trash folder.
- The tool will start a quick scanning process and in a few minutes, it will show you all the results of the scan.
- I found the folder that I permanently deleted from Trash and by clicking the Recover button, I was able to retrieve all the photos back to the same location.
And this is how simple it is to recover your precious photos and videos if they get permanently deleted from your computer or any other storage device.
Conclusion
