46 Products on Deep Discount in November

Posted by admin on

This month is the best time to save on almost everything

By Samantha B. Gordon

November is traditionally one of the best months to find discounts. And this year is no exception.

Black Friday sales have started earlier over the past few years. This year holiday sales began in early October with events at Amazon, Target, Walmart, and others. Since then, there have been more discounts and deals than usual, and this trend will continue throughout the month. Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday are still expected to have the best deals of the year, but shoppers no longer need to wait to get big savings.

Consumer Reports tracks prices of everything we test to identify drops in price. In addition to popular gifts such as televisions, headphones, air fryers, and cookware, you’ll also see sales on large appliances and mattresses, especially around Veterans Day, on Nov. 11. Historically, 46 kinds of products we test reach their lowest prices this month. Below, we’ve highlighted 15 of the most popular items on deep discount in November.

Laptops and Computers

Laptops and computers are always high on holiday wish lists, so it’s no surprise that retailers tend to offer bigger discounts in November. But this year don’t expect quite as many offers. With chip shortages leading to lower inventory and higher demand, discounts will be harder to come by.

In addition to fewer sales on laptops, Chromebooks, and computers, supply chain problems and other concerns are creating shipping delays. If you need a new laptop or want to give one as a gift, the key this year will be to shop early to ensure you get the model in time for the holidays. Pay attention to shipping times when ordering online and shop around, because some retailers may be able to deliver faster or provide in-store pickup.

Start your search with CR’s buying guide and recommended models to find a few options that fit your needs and budget.

Check out the following deals on laptops and Chromebooks.

Asus Chromebook C536EA-BI3T3
The deal: $369.99 at Best Buy
The Asus Chromebook C536EA-BI3T3 has one of the fastest processing speeds among the Chromebooks we’ve tested. The battery life is below average in our web-browsing tests (9.75 hours) and the 4.3-pound weight makes it less portable than other models. But the convertible form factor allows you to fold it into tent mode for watching videos. And $200 is a significant discount if you’re looking for a Chromebook with fast processing speeds.

HP 14A-NA0023CL Chromebook
The deal: $149.95 at Amazon
This 14-inch Chromebook from HP is good for people who simply need a functional laptop to do things like browse the web and check email. It has an Intel Celeron processor, 4 gigabytes of memory, and 32GB of flash storage. As with other Chromebooks, the idea is that you’re going to be storing most files online. It scores okay in our tests, with somewhat middling performance, but it has a 13-hour battery life while browsing the web. This Chromebook is $10 more than the lowest price we’ve seen all year.

LG Gram 17 (2021) Laptop
The deal: $1,561.99 at Amazon
The 2021 LG Gram 17 can be a great option if you’re looking for a lightweight machine that can still perform. Its battery life for web browsing and video playback is one of the longest of all the models CR has tested, a feat you don’t often see on 17-inch laptops. It has a solid-state drive that can load up Windows and large programs quickly, and the large 2-terabyte storage space is great for local backups. While not the best choice for gaming, it does have fast speeds that can handle complex spreadsheets and videoconferencing. A more than $300 discount is definitely worth considering if you need a workhorse of a laptop.

Televisions

The holidays are a time to find a deep discount on a new TV. Usually, you’d expect the biggest sales to happen on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But this year, as with last year, retailers are stretching their sales throughout the month.

If you’re planning to order a larger TV, buy early if you want it delivered to reduce the risk of shipping delays. Or order from a retailer that offers in-store or curbside pickup to get your new TV even sooner.

It pays to do some research before heading to a store because there are countless options available. There are plenty of highly rated makes and models in our ratings from brands such as LG, Samsung, Sony, and TCL.

Our TV buying guide will help you get the most bang for your buck no matter how much you want to spend. Paid members should consult our TV ratings to make sure you get a set that performed well in our lab tests.

Check out the following TV deals.

Hisense 65U7G
The deal: $749.99 at Best Buy
This 65-inch set from Hisense, a midrange 2021 model that sits below the flagship 8-series sets, delivers top-notch overall picture quality, though it doesn’t do quite as well with HDR. It uses the Android TV smart TV system, so it has Chromecast and Google Assistant built in. A $250 discount is substantial and just $50 more than the best price we’ve seen.

Insignia NS-70DF710NA21
The deal: $419.99 at Best Buy
This 70-inch 4K smart TV from Insignia, Best Buy’s house brand, is a fine overall performer, although its HDR performance is ineffective, mainly because of peak brightness limitations. It uses the Amazon Fire TV smart TV system, and Alexa is built in for using voice commands. This is an especially impressive bargain for the size. The set was $10 more last week, making it an even juicier discount. It beats the best price we’ve seen for this model by $70.

Toshiba 65M550KU
The deal: $429.99 at Best Buy
The Toshiba 65M550KU may be a good choice if you want a smart 4K TV and don’t want to deal with a streaming device. This 65-inch set comes with the Fire TV platform built in, so you’re ready to stream as soon as you set up the unit. And while it doesn’t perform quite well enough to live among the best TVs CR has tested, it does get above-average scores for 4K UHD performance. It has a wide viewing angle, too, making it suitable for a family room or other commonly used space in your home.

Air Fryers

Air fryers have been among the top holiday gifts for the past few years, so you’ll find plenty of discounts. But with so many models and sizes out there, it’s especially important to check out your options before you buy.

Among the models CR has tested, there turned out to be no discernible difference in the food the testers made. But some air fryers had easier controls, were easier to clean, or were quieter than others.

Learn more about the various features and other factors to consider in CR’s buying guide, then take a look at the recommended models to find the best one for you (or whomever you want to give it to).

Check out the following air fryer deals.

GoWise GW22731 air fryer
The deal:
$84.83 at Amazon
A CR Best Buy, this GoWise air fryer has a measured capacity of 4.9 quarts. Its touch buttons and programmed settings are among the easiest to see and use. And this is one of the quietest air fryers we’ve tested. The exterior’s crevices and the basket’s nooks and crannies take some effort to clean, however. This model is already at a good price, but a discount on top of that makes it even more appealing.

Oster DiamondForce Nonstick XL 5 Quart Digital Air Fryer
The deal: $73.99 at Best Buy
The Oster DiamondForce Nonstick XL 5 Quart Digital Air Fryer’s digital touchscreen is easy to read. And its programmed settings are easy to use, earning it a favorable score in our controls test. This model also doesn’t make too much noise, and cleaning the inside and outside doesn’t take a lot of elbow grease. Despite the air fryer’s name, the basket has a measured capacity of 3.6 quarts. Best Buy just put this model on clearance, at the lowest price we’ve seen in weeks. It has dipped as low as $60, though, and may fall even further in price.

Headphones

Headphones are always a popular gift item, and you can often find great deals on top models in the weeks leading up to the holidays. The best deals traditionally roll out around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but this year you can expect to see various sales and savings all month.

Chip shortages may affect inventory levels, so if you’re after a popular brand like Bose or Sony, you may want to shop earlier than later.

Whether you’re looking for true wireless earbuds or a comfy pair of over-ear headphones that offer noise cancellation, it’s important to research brands and models to ensure that the pair you buy will have the features you’re looking for.

Consumer Reports tests headphones in our labs to measure things like volume, noise cancellation, sound quality, and battery life. Review our recommended models to get more familiar with the best options before you start shopping.

Check out the following headphone deals.

Bose Sport Open Earbuds
The deal: $119 at Bose
Music is great while you’re working out, but cutting yourself off from your environment isn’t always convenient—or safe. Enter the Bose Sport Open Earbuds. This true wireless model has a design that lets in outside sound in on purpose, so you should have an easier time hearing traffic approaching when you’re on a run.

These have hooks to keep the earbuds in place while you move around, and they sit on rather than in your ears, which some people find more comfortable. And these headphones deliver above-average sound quality. According to Bose, they have an 8-hour battery life and a quick-charge feature for 3 extra hours after 30 minutes of plug-in time. But unlike most true wireless headphones, this model’s carrying case doesn’t double as a portable charger.

JLab Audio JBuds Air True Wireless Earphones
The deal:
$29.99 at Amazon; $30.16 at Walmart
Even at full price, these earphones deliver impressive sound quality, beating competitors that cost more than three times as much and earning them a spot in CR’s picks for the best true wireless headphones of 2021. So when you find them on sale at more than 20 percent off, it’s an even bigger bargain.

The JBuds Air have an advertised 3.5-hour battery life and come with a carrying case that will recharge the earphones for an additional two cycles. Other features include support for various digital assistants, three switchable EQ modes to change the tonal balance of the sound, and according to JLab, water resistance. (We don’t test that feature or battery life.)

Sennheiser CX Plus
The deal:
$129.95 at Walmart
The Sennheiser CX Plus offers really good value in a true wireless noise-canceling earbud. The sound quality is more than solid, and the active noise-canceling performance is among the best we’ve tested and includes a transparency mode so that you can hear traffic while you’re walking. Some users might find the buds a bit bulky, but our testers found the fit to be fine for most people.

Tablets

As with laptops and computers, tablet sales are also prominent this month. In fact, a number of laptops and Chromebooks that score well in CR’s tests can convert to tablets for added functionality.

When choosing the best tablet for yourself or your giftee, consider how it will be used. For Netflix or editing photos, look for something with a larger higher-quality screen. For simpler tasks, such as playing games and browsing the web, you don’t need to spend a ton. Other factors to consider are battery life, storage capacity (and expansion options), size, weight, and processor power.

To learn more about what will work for you, check out CR’s buying guide and recommended tablets.

Check out the following tablet deals.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
The deal:
$294.99 at Amazon
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is our top recommendation for the average person who wants a budget-priced Android tablet, making it especially good for students. The screen looks good, and the device will handle just about any task unless you’re playing a graphics-heavy game or doing something like editing video. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite also delivers solid battery life, lasting just over 12 hours in our web-browsing tests. This is a solid discount for this model. The sale price usually swings between $280 and $350, so it may drop further as we approach Black Friday.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8
The deal: $549.99 at Amazon and Walmart
The Galaxy Tab S8 is a great option for people who want an Android tablet with high performance. Just keep in mind that top performance isn’t necessary for simple tasks such as reading email, watching movies, and surfing the web. The Galaxy Tab S7 is also on sale if you need a fast device but want something a little cheaper. This is the best price we’ve seen all year, dropping $13 since last week.

Vacuums

Vacuums, including robotic vacuum cleaners, are among the more popular gift options around the holidays, and you’ll find lots of discounts on top models. This is an ideal time to finally replace your old one with an upgrade or surprise someone who loves to clean with a fancy new model.

There are so many kinds of vacuums to choose from that it can be daunting to decide on the best option for your home. To make the choice easier, review our vacuum cleaner buying guide as well as our ratings to select the right brand and model for your budget.

Check out the following vacuum deals.

Eufy 30C
The deal: $159.99 at Amazon
A basic robotic vacuum that will work well in small spaces, the Eufy 30C is nimble, quiet, and good at cleaning but not very effective in larger spaces. It also has the option to connect to WiFi so that you can start and stop the robot from your phone, set a cleaning schedule, and integrate it with smart home routines if you choose. This price is $4 less than the low we saw during Prime Day in the summer.

Shark Vertex Ultralight Corded Stick Vacuum
The deal: $199.99 at Walmart; $238.50 at Amazon
The “ultralight” name for the Shark Vertex Ultralight HZ2002 refers to its light hand vac mode (our testers weighed it at 2.9 pounds). The Shark aced our tests for carpet, bare floors, and pet hair, and has a score for cleaning edges that is almost as impressive. Although not as versatile as a cordless vacuum, this model has a 30-foot cord that’s long enough so that you won’t have to constantly map out your electrical outlets.

Tineco Pure One S11 Tango EX
The deal:
$314.99 at Amazon (with the on-page coupon)
The feature-packed Tango EX usually costs a bit more than the Tineco Pure One S11, but the performance is similar and this sale puts them at the same price. This model has all the bells and whistles of its brandmate, including an LED panel that indicates battery life and suction power. It costs a bit more because in addition to the main power brush, it comes with a soft power brush, a nice extra if you have wood floors. It runs for 17 minutes on one charge. You can use Tineco’s app to monitor battery life, but if you don’t want to be bothered with another app on your phone, you can get all the information you need from the LED panel.

Cookware

Cookware often goes on sale in November because it’s perfect for gift-giving and often sought after by anyone giving holiday parties or hosting loved ones.

Whether you want a Dutch oven, a frying pan, or a full cookware set, you may be able to find a deal on a top-tested model.

There are many factors that define quality cookware, whether you’re looking for cast iron, nonstick, or stainless steel. Consumer Reports tests dozens of pots, pans, and Dutch ovens from brands such as All-Clad, Cuisinart, Lodge, Pioneer Woman, and more to help you make an informed purchase.

Check out the following cookware deals.

Lodge 6-Quart Dutch Oven
The deal: $66.26 at Wayfair
With more than 120 years in the business, Lodge knows a thing or two about cast iron, and the Lodge 6-quart Dutch oven turns out bread that’s nicely browned and crispy, rating above average in our bread-baking test. Cleanup is a breeze. It weighs 14 pounds and has a 7-inch cooking surface diameter. Like the Le Creuset, the Lodge has wide loop handles. This model usually costs $80. It rarely goes on sale, so take advantage while the deal is here.

Red Copper Ceramic Infused Cookware Set
The deal:
$83.81 at Amazon
With its copper-colored coating, the 10-piece Red Copper Ceramic Infused cookware set is colorful inside and out. It aced our tests for quickly bringing water to a near-boil and slowly simmering tomato sauce. It earned a high mark for heating evenness in our pancake test, but eggs had to be nudged out of the pan in the food-release test. So if fried eggs are part of your breakfast rotation, consider other sets. That said, the nonstick coating held up well in our durability tests. The set includes a steamer insert. It can compete with those that cost more than twice as much, so this price is a solid deal. But it was $71 recently, and the price could dip again.

Kenmore 12-Piece Arlington Ceramic Nonstick Cookware Set
The deal:
$94 at Macy’s
Cooking evenness and speed of heating are top-notch, and the nonstick coating is so slick that you’ll never be stuck with egg residue in the pan. Our sauces simmered without scorching, and the nonstick coating is durable, earning impressive scores in that test. The handles stay cool to the touch when cooking but could be more sturdy, typical of pans in this price range. To get this sale price, you’ll have to enter the code FRIEND at checkout.

Coffee Makers

Coffee makers are great gifts for any caffeine lovers on your gift list, and there are loads to choose from no matter the brewing style or your budget.

Some drip coffee makers sell for under $30 while others that grind the beans or connect with your smartphone can run you well over $200. But you should be able to find the model you want on sale this month.

If your giftee loves lattes, there are espresso makers and pod coffee makers that can deliver the barista experience at home. And for the loved one who drinks iced coffee all year long, you can often find discounts on cold-brew makers in the chillier months.

Not sure where to start? Check out CR’s buying guide to learn about the different types of coffee makers and explore some of the top models.

Check out the following deals on coffee makers.

Mr. Coffee Optimal Brew BVMC-PSTX91
The deal: $79.99 at Amazon
For a brewer with a thermal carafe, consider this deal on the Mr. Coffee Optimal Brew BVMC-PSTX91. Our tests show thermal carafes aren’t as easy to hold and pour as glass carafes, but this machine still performs decently for handling. It also offers great brew performance and is quite easy to clean and use. This is the best discount we’ve seen in weeks.

Nespresso VertuoPlus
The deal: $179.32 at Amazon
The Nespresso VertuoPlus offers a superb brewing range as well as solid first-cup speed and temperature consistency. In terms of features, it comes equipped with a removable water reservoir, a height-adjustable drip tray, and auto-shutoff. And Nespresso pod coffee makers earn top ratings for owner satisfaction and reliability in our member surveys. This machine uses Nespresso’s VertuoLine pods, not the OriginalLine other models use, so make sure you choose the correct pods. Nespresso machines don’t go on sale often, and while we’ve seen bigger discounts for major sales, it’s always nice to save a little if you need a new coffee maker right now.

Keurig K-Café Special Edition Coffee, Latte & Cappuccino Maker K84
The deal: $159.99 at Target
The Keurig K-Café Special Edition Coffee, Latte & Cappuccino Maker K84 uses K-Cup pods to brew coffee, lattes, and cappuccinos. It can even brew iced lattes and iced cappuccinos, but it lacks a mode for making traditional iced coffee. It’s admirably consistent in terms of brew size and temperature. It takes longer than the fastest models to heat up for the first cup, but it does better with subsequent cups. In addition to its built-in milk frother, this model comes with an auto-shutoff feature, a height-adjustable drip tray, and a removable water reservoir. This 20 percent discount matches the best price we’ve seen.

Smartwatches

Smartwatches make great gifts, and with the new Apple Watches that were just released, you may be able to find older-model Apple Watches on sale and even modest deals on the new ones.

There are plenty of other smartwatches from brands such as Fitbit and Samsung that may be part of Black Friday specials and other ways to save as well.

You’ll want to make sure the smartwatch you choose is going to fit your lifestyle. First and foremost, it should be compatible with your smartphone. But do you want one that has its own network connectivity? How about a heart-rate monitor? Or the ability to pay for purchases? You should also take into account things like size, battery life, and replacement bands.

Read CR’s buying guide to learn more, then check out our ratings to find the best smartwatch for you.

Check out the following smartwatch deal.

Samsung Galaxy Watch4
The deal: $199 at Walmart
The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 has a bright 1.3-inch AMOLED display that can showcase a variety of interesting watch faces. The model has a mic and speaker for handling phone calls. It offers a robust suite of health and fitness options, including a blood oxygen sensor, ECG monitoring (that could detect irregularities in heart rhythm), and even a sensor that’s claimed to measure body fat. It works best if you have a Samsung Android phone because that gives you access to all the Samsung Health features. This is the standard sale price, and we haven’t seen it drop much lower.

Smart Speakers

Smart speakers enable a lot of entertainment and smart home options, and they make great gifts, so you’ll usually see a slew of deals on all the top brands this month. They originally were best used as virtual assistants, but now there’s a wide world of options that offer impressive sound quality for music playback.

There are three virtual assistants: Amazon Alexa, Apple’s Siri, and Google Assistant. Siri is available only in the Apple HomePod, but you can find a variety of brands offering smart speakers that rely on Alexa or Google. These assistants can set reminders and timers, call an Uber, order pizza, answer trivia questions, share news and weather updates, and so much more.

Smart speakers can be especially useful if you have any smart devices in your home, providing voice control for things like lights, thermostats, and even TVs. Just make sure to check compatibility because not every device works with every smart speaker.

CR has tested 42 smart speakers for sound quality, versatility, and ease of use, among other factors, to help you choose the best option for your home.

Check out the following smart speaker deals.

Amazon Echo (4th gen.)
The deal: $49.99 at Amazon, Best Buy, Lowe’s, and Staples
The latest orblike Amazon Echo tops its predecessor, the classic cylindrical Echo, in a number of important ways. The sonics are significantly improved, with a strong but slightly boomy bass and enough volume to fill a midsized room. Our testers also found that two Echo speakers sound good when paired in stereo, delivering you-are-there appeal. This is the same low price we’ve seen during major Amazon sales.

Amazon Echo Show 5 (2nd gen.)
The deal: $34.99 at Amazon, Best Buy, Dell, Lowe’s, and Staples
The Echo Show 5 is Amazon’s smallest smart screen. Our testers report that the sound is subpar for a music-listening device, but there are reasons you should consider this device. It’s a utility machine that works well on a night table or desk. And you get all the Amazon Alexa functionality you’d have in other Echo devices, including the super-cheap Dot, and some added value thanks to the small screen and camera. This speaker is back down to its lowest price right now.

Wireless and Bluetooth Speakers

Similar to many items on this list, wireless speakers make great gifts, and retailers roll out discounts on them this time of year for that exact reason.

Decent Bluetooth speakers can cost from $20 to $800. Some are waterproof, some have a longer-than-average Bluetooth range or extended battery life, and some may have smart features such as Amazon Alexa compatibility or companion apps. Of course, not all speakers sound the same, so if you fancy yourself an audiophile, be prepared to spend a bit more for quality playback.

CR’s buying guide and product ratings can help you determine the best options so that you can navigate Black Friday sales and find the speaker you want for less.

Check out the following speaker deals.

Edifier S1000MKII
The deal: $359.99 at Best Buy
The Edifier S1000MKII has long been our favorite wireless speaker and is the best-sounding model we’ve tested. It’s pretty straightforward—it comes in a matched, powered pair that can connect via Bluetooth and a variety of inputs but offers no multiroom capability. But Edifiers sound sublime, with plenty of volume and bass and a bit of magic in the midrange that can almost convince you that the musicians are standing right in front of you.

The Edifier rarely goes on sale, so any discount is worth a look. Amazon had these same speakers for about $40 less during its recent Prime Early Access event, so there may be another chance to get them for less later this year.

Sony SRS-XB13
The deal: $48 at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart
For less than $50, the pocket-sized Sony SRS-XB13 is a solid deal. It’s a take-anywhere speaker that can go to the park or the beach without fear of an expensive piece of electronics getting lost, stolen, or destroyed. The Sony’s bass isn’t very strong, and it lacks the smoothness and detail of more expensive speakers, but the speaker’s sound can fill a small room. This is a great value for the quality and portability, but this model was $10 less during the Prime Early Access sale, so the price may drop again for Black Friday.

Mattresses

The holiday shopping season is often a good time to find a solid discount on a mattress.

Retailers always offer savings for Black Friday, and, because of Veterans Day, the deals will start early and last all month. Expect savings from popular mattress brands such as Avocado and Tuft & Needle, as well as retailers like Mattress Firm and US-Mattress.

There’s a lot to consider when buying a new mattress, and your decision will depend mostly on your body type and sleeping habits. Some mattresses are made with organic materials, some incorporate coils and memory foam, and some have special materials like cooling gels. And their prices range from a few hundred dollars to well over $1,000, so your budget will affect your choices as well.

You can find out more about mattress options by reading CR’s buying guide and reviewing our mattress ratings. A good mattress should last you eight to 10 years, so explore your options and invest in one that will suit your sleeping style for years to come.

Check out the following mattress deals.

Avocado Green Mattress
The deal: $1,799 at Avocado
Avocado makes some top-notch mattresses, and this sale is a great chance to save on one. (The Green usually goes for $1,999 and the Green Pillowtop is priced at $2,499.) Both Avocado mattresses support a wide range of side and back sleeper body types. On our firmness scale, the Avocado Green is very firm and the pillow top is medium firm.

To get the savings, use the code SAVE10 at checkout. This is $50 better than the standard discount for the Green mattress, and it matches the standard price for the Green Pillowtop. And CR members may be able to save a little bit more through an exclusive offer for members only.

Birch by Helix Natural Mattress
The deal: $1,399 at Birch Living
If you’re wary of synthetic materials, this is a good time to consider the Birch by Helix Natural mattress, which is made with materials like cotton, wool, and natural latex. Right now Birch’s Fall Into Sleep sale is going strong, so you can take $400 off this mattress with the code FALLSALE400. This hybrid innerspring performs well in our tests for most sleepers, getting its highest scores for support when it comes to petite back sleepers. It also tests superbly for durability and stability. This matches the best discount we’ve seen for this mattress all year. The sale also includes two free Eco-Rest pillows.

Home Security Cameras

If you’re working to make your home safer and more secure, consider home security cameras that you can set up yourself and monitor right from your smartphone.

November is a great time to find discounts on security cameras. Since smart security cameras first became available, they’ve only become better and more reasonably priced. There are indoor and outdoor cameras, as well as video doorbells, for optimal safety no matter your needs

Home security cameras can provide peace of mind by letting you see that your kids arrived home safely from school, the dog walker showed up as scheduled, or a package arrived. And companies keep making these cameras smarter through software updates that add new features, such as person detection and facial recognition.

We have found, however, that most of the models we tested don’t always deliver the high-definition video quality their manufacturers promise. And many models require you to pay monthly fees for some of the most important features, such as cloud video storage and monitoring zones (the ability to focus on or ignore motion within a designated area of the camera’s field of view).

With so many types of models and features, it can be hard to know what to look for. Read CR’s home security camera buying guide to narrow down your options and find the best product for your home before you start to look for deals and discounts.

Check out the following home security camera deals.

Eufy SoloCam S40
The deal: $129.99 at Amazon
The Eufy SoloCam S40 is the first security camera CR has tested with a built-in solar panel to recharge its battery. In our tests, it offers superb video quality and data security, as well as speedy response times. The camera doesn’t offer great data privacy, though, which is common among these devices. It features monitoring zones; person alerts; voice and app control via Amazon Alexa and Google Home/Assistant; a built-in siren; color night vision (thanks to its built-in spotlight); and 8 gigabytes of memory to store footage locally. This sale price matches the lowest we’ve seen all year.

Cync by GE Lighting Indoor Smart Camera
The deal: $46.35 at Amazon
If the idea of buying a security camera from a lighting company gives you pause, know that GE Lighting was recently acquired by the high-end home automation company Savant, so it knows a thing or two about security cameras. This Cync indoor-only model offers great video quality, strong data security, and speedy response time in our tests. It also features a microSD card slot for local video storage and a manual privacy shutter, which you can close if you don’t want the camera watching you while you’re home. Other features include voice and app control via Amazon Alexa and Google Home/Assistant, person detection, and monitoring zones. This camera is about 33 percent off its usual list price.

Cameras

Cameras have become something of a luxury because most people now rely on their phones to take photos. That makes cameras perfect for gift-giving, so retailers often discount them for the holiday shopping season.

Once you’ve settled on your budget (cameras can range from a hundred to thousands of dollars), you’ll need to decide on the type of camera you want. A simple point-and-shoot is great if your phone camera isn’t up to snuff. But you may want something more powerful, like a DSLR, if you’re looking to capture top-notch photos.

Because choosing the right digital camera can be overwhelming, spend some time doing a little homework before you shop. Determine which type will best suit your needs and how much you’re willing to spend, taking into account accessories such as lenses, SD cards, card readers, spare batteries, and more. Our digital camera buying guide and ratings give you the details on different models as well as information on features and brands.

Printers

If you’ve been meaning to get a new printer, you may be able to find a good deal on a top model during Black Friday sales. There are plenty of options to choose from. Some models can scan and fax while others stick to basic printing functions.

You’ll have to choose between two main types of printers: laser and inkjet. Some may be able to make copies or offer wireless printing over WiFi. CR’s buying guide can give you a more in-depth look at the options and the best models so that you’ll be ready to buy when the printer you want goes on sale.

Other Products on Deep Discount

In addition to the 15 products listed above, many other products go on sale in November because of Black Friday. CR’s data has found that the 31 categories below are also deeply discounted this month. So if you need or want to gift anything below, you should be able to find opportunities to save on top options from our tests.
